Movie Review: Bad Luck Govind; Cast: Gaurav Kapoor, Hrishita Bhatt, Govind Namdeo, Parmeet Sethi and Archana Puran Singh; Director: Varun Khanna; Rating: * - Avoid your bad luck by avoiding it.
The film tells the story of an unlucky bloke Govind (Gaurav) whose bad luck runs so strong that it immediately passes on to those around him. Not only cows stop giving milk if he passes a tabela, people fall of their bicycles, men also lose their manhood if he is around. Working as a production assistant in TV channel based in Delhi, he gets fed up of his forever running bad luck and to change it for the better heads to Mumbai.
On arrival as expected, his luggage gets stolen and to earn some quick money he decided to go for sperm donation. Here he meets Dr. Anu (Hrishita). He also encounters a wannabe actor Vishal (Amit Mistry) who helps him move ahead. Vishal introduces to a local bookie Kapoor (Parmeet Sethi) and thus begins Govind’s journey into the hands of wrong people who decide to misuse his bad luck for their own good. What it leads Govind too and how at the end Govind realizes his luck is not really that bad at all forms rest of the film.
On the concept level, the film works well, but sadly it does not reflect when transformed on screen. Though the initial few minutes are engaging and have some freshness, as the film proceeds, it ends up being a never ending torture. On the technical front it’s a royal mess what with tacky sets, bad music, pathetic production values and top it all bad direction by Varun Khanna.
Even on the acting level, no one really impresses. VJ turned actor Gaurav Kapoor simply is no hero material. Hrishita Bhatt fails to impress. Govind Namdeo repeats his same act for the umpteenth time and Vrajesh Hirjee irritates. Amit Mistry is fair but Archana Puran Singh in heavy cleavage showing role hardly has any role. Parmeet Sethi is okay.
The film a complete waste of time and not worth even catching on a DVD or a movie channel and you gottta be really unlucky to encounter it.
