Asin’s real life daredevil stunt

Well, actors do stunts all the time.

And Asin did the same not very long ago and that too in real life.

She saved a kid from getting trampled by a car on a busy road in Andheri.

She was passing by in her car when she noticed a boy stuck right in the middle of a busy road. There were speeding cars passing by within inches of the kid, who reportedly seemed clueless as to what to do.

Just as he was almost in front of a speeding vehicle Asin swung into action, walked into the middle of the road and hurriedly took the boy aside. But while doing so she lost her balance and fell down.

She saved the boy but ended up with bruises on her arms. Currently she’s sporting full sleeve dresses to conceal her bruises which are in the healing process.

However playing down the incident, she says it’s a personal matter.

Well, this dame wants to be humble and good, much like her character in ‘Ghajini’.

Asin says no to Akki

February 6th, 2009

Mumbai: 'Ghajini' fame Asin has rejected to work with Bollywood's Khiladi Akshay Kumar in his next flick ‘De Dana Dan', the reason being clash of dates. However, Asin's loss is Katrina Kaif's gain as she has grabbed the role.

After 'Ghajini', Salman Khan-Ajay Devgan starrer 'London Dreams' and Priyadarshan's comedy with Akshay Kumar 'De dana Dan' were the two biggies in her kitty. But Asin refused the latter offer as "There was date clash".

Addressing a press meet, Asin said, 'I could not do the role because of dates problem'.

However, according to the sources, the film is a three-heroine project, due to this reason Asin is not comfortable working in the movie.

Priyadarshan's upcoming 'De Dana Dan' will be the fourth film where Akki and Katrina would be seen together.

Asin has signalled it loud and clear that this girl will not accept
anything but author-backed central roles.

Katrina to spend Valentine’s Day with Ranbir; Salman chooses Asin!

January 31st, 2009

Mumbai : According to the latest B-town revelation, leggy beauty Katrina Kaif and her beau Salman Khan are not going to celebrate Valentine`s Day together but with two different people. Reports suggest that while Katrina would be spending the V-Day with none other than Ranbir Kapoor, Salman, on the other hand, would have Asin for company.

Before you let your imagination run wild, let’s clarify that Katrina and Ranbir are not planning a special Valentine’s Day celebration together. It’s just that the actors who are presently working for their upcoming venture, ‘Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani’ in Turkey, would be shooting for the same on the V-Day as well.

However, grapevine has it that Ranbir does have plans to surprise co-star Katrina by arranging an intimate dinner.

On the other hand, possessive beau Salman seems to be proving to Kat that he’s equally busy on the special occasion, for the actor would reportedly be shooting for his upcoming venture ‘London Dreams’ with much appreciated co-star Asin.

Well, it seems that Salman and Katrina have no issues with each other’s V-Day plans. But we wonder if Deepika has planned a surprise for beau Ranbir!

Asin wants to play meaty roles

January 29th, 2009

Hardly a film old in Bollywood and this sensuous beauty from down south – Asin, is already a star.

With her debut Hindi film Ghajini already having catapulted her to star status, her forthcoming London Dreams with Salman Khan is expected to follow up the success in a big way. Neckdeep with shooting schedules, Asin manages time for us too...

How has life been post Ghajini?
Not very different. It’s just that more people recognise and appreciate me now.

According to you, who’s a better actor – Aamir or Salman?
Not fair! (laughs) How can you expect me to choose between the two? Both are legends in their own right and both are good friends of mine. They are poles apart, but yes, Salman is more spontaneous whereas Aamir takes his own time as he thinks a lot.

Whose physique do you like better?
Salman has always had a great body. But seeing Aamir put in such hard work for the body he made for Ghajini, I would give him extra points for that.

A lot is believed to be transpiring between Salman and you...
That’s rubbish. Salman is a good friend and it felt really good when he especially invited me to unveil his paintings. And no, he didn’t send me any cake on my birthday like it’s being speculated.

What about the Eiffel Tower scene he got incorporated for you in LD because you always desired that your dream lover propose to you there?
Oh, the proposal scene in front of the Eiffel Tower was director Vipul Shah’s idea. He got that scene incorporated because it was a part of the story and Paris being a romantic city, it was thought that the scene would look good there.

What about the alleged catfight with Jiah?
Jiah has never had any problem with me and both of us are very cordial. I get along quite well with her family also. Anyway, all these rumours have been put to rest now after we were spotted together at various functions.

What kind of roles are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to playing meaty roles like the one that I had in Ghajini. But I don’t want to be typecast in any image either. I want rightfully fulfil the aspirations that audiences have from me.

Are you single?
Very much so! The only man in my life currently is my dad, who handles my career. (Laughs) Besides, I have never had a boyfriend. And whenever I say that, I seem to have committed a crime as everybody steps back astonished ‘How’s that possible when you are so good looking?’ (laughs some more).

ASIN TURNS DOWN BINDING CONTRACT

January 29th, 2009

Asin of the 'Ghajini' fame has now shunned all the bindings, including her distancing from the media, imposed on her by Aamir Khan earlier. The southern babe has quashed a contract from the makers of her forthcoming flick 'London Dreams'. It is learnt that the makers of 'London Dreams' wanted Asin to sign an agreement barring her from interacting with the media. However, she rejected the producer's demand as she says she has had enough of bad experience with Aamir Khan, who had kept her away from the media for two long years. So, when Vipul Shah asked Asin to sign a similar contract, the actress turned down the gag contract saying that she does not want to feel caged anymore.

January 17th, 2009

After a series of flops in Bollywood, and with not many fresh offers to boot, Shriya Saran has slowly wafted down south again. The actress now understands that she needs to be doing well in Bollywood if she needs to hike her price her. On the other hand, Asin’s “Ghajini” has done well and she is now much sought after and has films with Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar coming up.

Patiala House : Akshay Kumar's Next Movie in 2009

January 9th, 2009

Like we gave you Aamir Khan in wife Kiran's film Dhobi Ghat when everybody else was talking about Ghajini, BT now breaks the news of Akshay Kumar's next big film even before his Chandni Chowk To China releases. It is called Patiala House. And, yes, the King of Singhs is going back to Punjab with this comedy. There are going to be 32 Sardars in the film, all seen in one frame, not even Akshay's Singh Is Kingg was so daring! These 32 Sardars are all members of one big joint family in Punjab. Among them is Dara Singh, the Godfather of Bollywood's Sardars, and son Vindu. Vindu spoke to BT, "After I completed shooting with Akshay for Kambakt Ishq, he asked me to keep myself free in 2009 for this film. He also wants dad to be part of it. My dad has retired but he can't say no to Akshay who had obliged him by doing one of our Punjabi films." Nikhil Advani and Mukesh Talreja, who made Chandni Chowk to China, are producing Patiala House. Confirming the news, Nikhil said, "It goes on the floors this year."

And, if you are wondering which of Akshay's fave ladies — Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor or Deepika Padukone — will be opposite him in this film, then here's another little bit of news that BT's got. There are talks that South Indian actress and Ghajini star Asin may play the lead role.

Asin follows Katrina Kaif’s footsteps

January 10th, 2009

‘Ghajini’ is a big hit and now Asin, the southern star is looking forward to ‘London Dreams’.

‘London Dreams’ is about a rock band in England. Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan, play childhood friends in the movie who are rock musicians.

Asin’s chemistry with her co-star Salman Khan has also developed excellently.

The buzz is that Salman and Asin have gotten so close that it has made Katrina a little insecure.

So much so that she landed up on the sets of ‘London Dreams’ in Chandigarh.

Now Katrina played a musician ‘Yuvvraj’ and Asin is doing the same in ‘London Dreams’. While Katrina played the cello in ‘Yuvvraaj’, Asin will play the guitar in this film.

Ummm… seems the newbie is giving the wooden faced Kat a lot of competition.

Asin has no plans of shifting to Mumbai

January 9th, 2009

Ghajini actress Asin who was supposed to be shifting her base from South to Mumbai after the success of her film has denied the rumors.

According to sources she has bought a flat in Bandra but that is because whenever she comes down to Mumbai for a shoot she can stay in her own flat. As the actress is said to be very independent types, she does not want to take any favors from anyone, hence she has bought a place for herself. As far as her shifting is concerned she loves to stay down South with her mom and her family so as of now she has no such plans.

“She will be staying here in Mumbai for shooting any of her assignments or for signing of films. As it is difficult to stay in a hotel all the time she has bought this house. But moving completely to Mumbai will not happen because it would make it difficult for her to take up projects in the south,” the source said.

Currently Asin is shooting for London Dreams, one of the biggest movies this year. It stars Salman Khan and is being directed by Vipul Shah, after that she has a major assignment in the south with Kamaal Hasan, whose shooting is in Chennai.

But according to confirmed sources, Asin will have to move to Mumbai, coz once her film London dreams is a hit all the producers are not going to let go of her and she would have to reconsider her decision coz when it comes to the money part of it Bollywood definitely has bigger and better packages from the ones in south.

Asin gives sleepless nights to Bollywood Beauties

December 25th, 2008

AsinBollywood beauties need to beware of the recent competition that they are about to face. Yes you guessed it right, Asin the Ghajini girl who in spite of not having enough publicity in the north will be all over the place once her film Ghajini turns out to be a hit.

The Tamil version of the film was a big hit and Aamir feels that Asin is the main reason for the film to be a hit. He felt that she was the one in limelight and her acting remarkable.

At the age of 23,Asin is already a sensation in South. She is a complete package of a pretty face, beautiful hair, perfect figure and a rocking performer. She has won a couple of Filmfare awards in South. She can speak multiple languages like English, French, Telugu, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Tamil and Hindi while the actresses in Bollywood find it difficult to speak in Hindi. Therefore this damsel from South who is a perfect example of beauty with brains, will she be a threat to the Bollywood beauties?

A debut performance with Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan is something any Bollywood actress would want to do. Kareena after being in the industry for 10 years gets the opportunity to work with Aamir in the film 3 idiots. While Katrina and Priyanka still haven’t got the chance to work with him.

Another added feather in Asin’s cap is her next venture with Salman in London Dreams. Vipul Shah the director with a magic touch is said to directing her. This director is the one behind Akshay’s transformation from an ordinary Bollywood hero to a superstar. Asin who is a good actress is supposedly going to be a threat to all the actresses in bollywood who cannot act. This southern beauty is definitely going to make a place for herself in the north as well, especially after the viewers are craving to see new actresses after Rani and Preity, who are no longer in the league. Asin has also made the cover of Vogue even before the release of her Hindi debut film.

One actress who is already facing the Asin threat is Jiah Khan. Asin being Aamir’s favourite is getting all the publicity while Jiah is completely neglected. Asin is amongst those privileged few who seem to have made it straight into the Aamir camp and hence her start of the Bollywood career definitely seems to be very promising. Its time for all the Bollywood beauties to watch out.

Why would I feel threatened by Jiah: Asin

If all had gone well Asin would have moved into her own home in Mumbai by now.

"But I've been traveling non-stop. I had no time time to look around and find a place. But now we're finalizing a place in Bandra. Hopefully by new year I'll lock in to the place. And we'll move in. Right now we feel a little unsettled. In Mumbai you desperately need your own home."

Asin's parents have moved from Chennai to Mumbai with her. "Both of them gave up their jobs to be with me. Mom is a doctor. She has taken voluntary retirement.

She manages my home now. And Dad had seven business enterprises. He gave them up to look after my career. Right now I'm quite a handful and worth more than all his business ventures."

And she bursts into peals of laughter.

Asin is a fun-loving extremely atypical South Indian who chatters non-stop, if allowed.

She admits she was asked to keep quiet. "The marketing team felt better that I keep my distance from the press until the film's release. However that didn't stop wildly-speculative writeups about me. I read things about myself that I didn't know."

Like feeling insecure about her co-star Jiah Khan? "Is that really me? I've worked in South Indian films with female co-stars and never felt insecure. I worked with Nayantara in the Tamil Ghajini without my conflict.

Why would I feel threatened by Jiah? Was this a publicity strategy? It was being implied that I was somehow responsible for keeping Jiah out of the publicity. I don't know how one heroine can influence a huge marketing strategy."

Jiah and Asin have no scenes together. "But we have of course met and we're very cordial with one another. We got along fine. I've had no fights with any one in Tamil or Hindi cinema so far. All these stories of friction make me feel strange. I wonder who these people who spread such rumours are."

And no, Asin was under no contract with the Ghajini makers. "I'm under no contract. Didn't I sign London Dreams while Ghajini was being shot?

If I haven't signed another film, it's because I haven't come across anything exciting. I was supposed to do Priyadarshan's film with Akshay Kumar. But that clashed with the Ghajini 's promotional dates."

She will be moving into her new home in Bandra in January after the release of her first Hindi film Ghajini.

"But even without my own home I feel at home in Mumbai. For one almost the entire unit of Ghajini was South Indian. Most of them were people I had worked with. So we were constantly chattering on the sets in Tamil or Telugu. Except of course Aamir Khan who was new to all of us."

London Dreams was much tougher. "The total crew was totally Bollywood. So practically speaking London Dreams is my first Bollywood experience.

Ghajini was easier than my second Hindi film London Dreams where I had to start from scratch with the character. In Ghajini my character remained untampered except the language. Here I was speaking Hindi instead of Tamil. Otherwise no changes."

Her character is not the archetypal glamorous decorative doll. "I play a struggler in the ad world one of the many eager faces you see hanging out at ads shoots."

Asin's Hindi has always been good and she won't require any dubbing from outsiders, thank you.

How different is Aamir from Salman Khan? "While Aamir mulls overs scenes Salman must be prepared from beforehand. Because you don't seem him rehearse on the sets. But everyone in Mumbai is thoroughly professional"

As for Mumbai being wary of stepping into theaters right now Asin exudes confidence. "I'm hoping by Christmas time they'd be enthused into watching an Aamir Khan film. I'm put in my best efforts in Ghajini."
