"They have thrown me out and I'm jobless:" Shahrukh

February 17th, 2009

Shahrukh Khan is no longer the brand ambassador of Pepsi. Shahrukh when asked with regards to the same sarcastically stated, "I am no longer a part of their campaign. They have thrown me out and I am jobless now."

Just days back we had reported about Aamir Khan renewing his Coca Cola contract for a whopping Rs.10 crore deal. SRK's contract with Pepsi had got over in 2008 and he was looking forward to a renewed contract with a much higher price as well.

Sources revealed, "The new Youngistaan campaign focuses completely on targeting the younger generation and Shahrukh doesn't seem to fit in that. Ranbir Kapoor, who has already been on the Pepsi brigade shall be spearheading this upcoming campaign. The company however is still in negotiations for working out a deal for Khan's IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming season but it appears unlikely that he will go in for it."

Pepsi had earlier dropped their cricket star ambassadors Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Saurav Ganguly. They had very recently shot ads with new entrant Ishant Sharma along with Dhoni and Sehwag.

AAmir Khan Next Directional Venture to be a movie based on bhopal farmers

February 6th, 2009

Aamir Khan has got fascinated with a new story and is funding a film based on it.

For the second time the actor is financing an issue based film.

The movie is to showcase the plight of the farmers in Bhopal.

We know that Aamir only gives the green signal when he is fully convinced about the quality of a certain project offered to him.

Considering the film's storyline it is for sure that it is the actor's genuine concern for the farmers that made up his mind to produce it.

Aamir's experiences after the release of 'Taare Zameen Per' also might have influenced his decision.

The way Aamir's directorial debut has brought about a change in the common man's perspective on children's education process is highly commendable.

After 'TZP' hit the screens, the actor was very much appreciated for utilizing the power of films to bring into focus the problem of learning disability.

So now may be Aamir thinks that he can put the spotlight on a grave problem that is eating up poor farmers lives in Bhopal.

Anusha Rizvi, a former journalist having first hand knowledge about the issues faced by the farmers in Bhopal is directing the film.

Raghubir Yadav is giving life to the lead character.

SRK’s angry with Aamir Khan

Looks like SRK has still not forgiven Aamir Khan for his ‘dog’ blog last year.

For the unawares, Aamir had infamously blogged about a dog called Shah Rukh mid last year.

At that time King Khan had said that he didn’t really mind it but it really doesn’t seem that he’s forgiven and forgotten whatever happened

At a public event to promote a watch SRK said, “I can take my shirt off for you but I don’t have anything written on my chest like Aamir. You know we don’t need to write things on our chests to sell watches here. We do it just like that.”

He made it clear that he isn’t really picking on Aamir.

He added, “I don’t pick on him. It is a joke and it is supposed to continue but the media makes it big. But, yes I don’t like some of the things that he and other people have said and I am serious about that. I will have a chat with him but I won’t tell you what it is I will pick on him in person.”

Well, the King Khan doesn’t really take things with a pinch of salt every time. He’s just diplomatic enough to not say it all the time. And at this moment he doesn’t seem to be in a diplomatic mood at all.

SRK gets dodgy with doggy

February 5th, 2009

Well, we all know that Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan share a unique love-hate relationship.

And, Aamir even wrote on his blog about how he called his dog ‘Shah Rukh’. Though King Khan took it sportingly, it is also a known fact that SRK doesn’t forget things easily.

While talking about the Oscar-nominated film Slumdog Millionaire at a press conference recently, SRK smartly picked the word ‘dog’ and with a sarcastic smile said, “I have a very old relation with the word dog!” Now you know what he was taking a dig at Aamir.

The man behind the success of Ash, Aamir, Shahrukh

February 4th, 2009

First it was Aamir Khan, then it was Shahrukh Khan and now it's Aishwarya Bachchan, who's bagged the Padma Shri Award.

And while the three stars have all won their respective awards in different years, there's one common connection that the trio share. That all the three actors have won a Padma Shri soon after working with ace filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker.

Aamir won the award post-Lagaan, Shahrukh post - Swades, and Ash post – Jodhaa Akbar, all three films that were directed by Ashutosh. Call it the magic of teamwork or sheer coincidence, but Ashutosh sure seems to have a Midas touch when it comes to bagging awards. Now, do we see the queue of actors trying to make it in Ashutosh's films doubling up?

January 29th, 2009

Asin of the 'Ghajini' fame has now shunned all the bindings, including her distancing from the media, imposed on her by Aamir Khan earlier. The southern babe has quashed a contract from the makers of her forthcoming flick 'London Dreams'. It is learnt that the makers of 'London Dreams' wanted Asin to sign an agreement barring her from interacting with the media. However, she rejected the producer's demand as she says she has had enough of bad experience with Aamir Khan, who had kept her away from the media for two long years. So, when Vipul Shah asked Asin to sign a similar contract, the actress turned down the gag contract saying that she does not want to feel caged anymore.

Akki’s award goes to Aamir

January 18th, 2009

Akshay refused to accept apopular award, suggested it be given to Aamir.

After all the drama and exchange of annoyance that took place on stage of an award ceremony recently, it was Akshay Kumar, who saved the show with his kindheartedness. The actor took many by surprise when he refused to accept ‘The Most Popular Actor’ award saying that not him, but Aamir Khan deserved the award for his work in Ghajini.

Our sources say, “Akshay Kumar saw Ghajini in New York when he was there for the premiere of Chandni Chowk to China and was floored by Aamir’s performance and effort. On his return to India from London, Akshay saw Singh Is Kinng in the flight and thought that Aamir’s effort was far more commendable.

Receiving the award Akshay said, “I feel humble that I have won the award for ‘The Most Popular Actor’. I have waited for this award since a long time. However, I recently saw Ghajini and thought that Aamir deserves this award more. I know that Aamir does not accept awards, but I want him to accept this as a symbol of love that people have for him. I want him to enjoy the award as much as I would have done.”

When contacted Akshay Kumar said, “I did something that I genuinely felt. I really do not wish to talk about it.”

Shahrukh Khan Yash chopra ( YRF ) Fight , Latest News

January 15th, 2009

Yash Raj Films not only had a difficult time last year as all their films came croppers at the box-office, they also have new trouble to deal with. The buzz is that differences with their blue-eyed boy Shah Rukh Khan, have begun to come out in the open. Cracks have developed in this oh-so-long relationship on both, the personal and professional front.

Our source close to Shah Rukh claims, "Shah Rukh is miffed and irritated with Yash Raj Films. The actor has been having differences with Yash Chopra and has been extremely vocal with his friends about it."

The source further says that the Chopras feel that Shah Rukh owes his success to them. This makes them expect that SRK should cut his price for them, an exception that he wouldn't make for any filmmaker in the industry. The Chopras also think that if Baazigar was a hit, it was Darr that brought him into the limelight. They feel that Dilwale Dhulaniya Le Jaayenge made Shah Rukh Khan what he is today. "They (Chopras) treat him shabbily on the sets. There have been several occasions when they have taken Shah Rukh for granted. The Chopras have always had a one-up attitude towards Shah Rukh."

The source reveals that Shah Rukh felt strongly about the Chopras being unfair to good friend Karan Johar in their business dealings. "The Chopras owe a huge amount of money to Karan. But neither Karan nor Aditya will talk about it. Karan is too upright to even broach the topic of money with the Chopras."

The difference has finally reached a stage that Karan is in talks with UTV for the distribution of his film, Wake up Sid and Rensil D'Silva's film, while Yashraj Films is in talks with Aamir Khan for their next venture which is to be directed by Yash Chopra

SRK and Aamir won’t share screen space in Luck By Chance

January 15th, 2009

Not many are aware that both Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan are making an appearance in Zoya Akhtar’s directorial debut Luck By Chance starring Zoya’s brother Farhan Akhtar in the main lead. But our source who has managed to have a sneak peak of the film has confirmed to us that both the Khans don’t share screen space at all and appear at different times individually in the film. The film has the Hindi film industry as the back drop with Farhan playing a struggling Bollywood actor. Our source further adds that both Aamir and the King Khan play themselves in the film. Their fans have missed the opportunity to see them together this time and it is definitely going to be a long wait for their fans to see them together again what with the two Khans being on an undeclared war against each other passing taunts against each other.

It can be recalled that the only time Aamir and SRK have shared screen space has been for a few minutes in the opening sequence of Ashutosh Gowariker’s directorial debut, Pehla Nasha. Even in that film, they played themselves and that film too had the main lead, Deepak Tijori playing a struggling actor.

When SRK was shooting the song sequence with 32 actors for his Om Shanti Om he wanted Aamir too to be a part of it but after keeping him waiting for over a month, Aamir finally declined to participate.

Aamir Khan tops Rakeysh’s wish list

January 14th, 2009

‘Rang de Basanti’ came and won hearts three years back.It took Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra three years to put together ‘Delhi 6′.

Now that the movie is almost ready, his RDB star Aamir Khan is high up on his wish list as he thinks about his next film.

And this movie is about the life of legendary actor-producer-director Guru Dutt.

Reportedly the untitled movie has been scripted by Nasreen Munni Kabir, who has also written the book ‘Guru Dutt: A Life in Cinema’.

Mehra wants to start the movie by the end of the year, but things can be confirmed only after concrete talks with Aamir Khan

The actor is currently working in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘3 Idiots’ and his wife Kiran Rao’s ‘Dhobi Ghat’. And everyone knows how particular Aamir is about the subject, the script and other things related to his movies

He’s also handling his home productions ‘Delhi Belly’ directed by Abhinay Deo and a film on farmers’ suicides.

Incidentally, Guru Dutt’s ‘Kaagaz ke Phool’ was itself a semi-autobiographical with him as a failed filmmaker and dealing with his relationship with his wife as well as the woman he loved. The black-and-white film flopped when it was first released in 1959 but later managed to get classic status.

Have Aamir and Faisal Khan patched up?

January 13th, 2009

It seems like finally the two warring brothers Faisal and Aamir Khan have decided to patch up. It can be recalled that there was a case filed by Faisal Khan against Aamir Khan. Also Faisal had left no chance to malign Aamir’s reputation by holding press conference in the media against him. But things seems to have changed now.

Faisal reveals, “I met Aamir after Ghajini released and told him I loved his role and the film. We both hugged each other and there is no bad blood between him and me. I will always wish the best for him, he is my brother after all.”

Faisal further adds, “I am in the process of making my own film and hope to get it on the floors very soon.”

Does he intend to take his brother’s help for the same?

“Thats upto him to decide” concludes Faisal.

Aamir Khan’s good Samaritan act

January 9th, 2009

Knowing how perfect and choosy Aamir Khan is, it was a pleasant surprise for producer Sunil Bohra when Aamir himself offered to be on his show Face the Review on Zoom for the second time. Aamir was first called for the review of Ghajini and the actor liked the format of calling a star on the first day first show of the film and having a one-on-one interaction with the audiences, that he wanted to return to the show for the yearly winding up.

And he very much deserved to be on the show again because his latest blockbuster Ghajini had made unprecedented business in the day of recession and tough times. While Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi made big time moolah while all the other films were flopping, Ghajini wasn’t to be left behind either. When everyone wants to save up each and every penny, Aamir’s fans flocked to the theatres to see Ghajini. And who can forget Aamir’s look being copied by young guns of India. So Face the Review re-invited Aamir.

But when Aamir came for the shooting of the episode, Bohra knew that something was amiss, since Aamir looked a bit worked up. Then it was revealed that Aamir witnessed the accident of an 83-year-old Moti Jhangiani by two motorcycle riders. But, unlike others, Aamir wasn’t just a witness, he had his security guards take Jhangiani to a hospital and was constantly in touch with them over the phone. Even amidst all the fanfare, Aamir hasn’t forgotten to be a gentleman and a good human being.

Aamir lauded for anti-smoking scene in 'Ghajini'

January 8th 2009

PANAJI: A Mumbai-based public health institute has lauded Aamir Khan Production Pvt Ltd for the actor's anti-smoking scene in the latest
blockbuster, 'Ghajini'.

Healis Sekhsaria Institute for Public Health has sent a letter of appreciation to Aamir Khan Productions Pvt Ltd applauding him for the scene in his latest blockbuster hit 'Ghajini'.

The latest Aamir Khan flick has shown a gang of hooligans smoking in a mall which is objected to by a character.

"The scene highlights the team's sensitivity in correctly portraying public smoking as an unlawful activity, especially since most producers and directors tend to glamourise the act of smoking and some of them defend it as creative freedom," the institute director Dr P C Gupta said.

"When a celebrity smokes publicly or in a movie as a character, he or she not only violates the law but also influences the fans to start consuming tobacco. According to a research, 52 per cent children have their first puff after watching a celebrity light up a cigarette," he said.

"We appreciate and thank Murugadoss, the director of 'Ghajini', and Aamir Khan for highlighting such an important fact even though we certainly do not favour any violence against smokers," Gupta said.

Rajkumar Hirani: After 3 IDIOTS, I AM STUPID!

January 3, 2009

This is not the first time that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has come up with such an eccentric title. His films, MUNNABHAI and 3 IDIOTS garnered enough interest from the Bollywood audience for their 'out of the box' titles. And the latest that Hirani has to offer is a film titled I AM STUPID.

Apparently, Rajkumar Hirani who is nearing the completion of 3 IDIOTS has come up with this strange title for his next project. According to the latest buzz, I AM STUPID might be a sequel to Hirani's 3 IDIOTS. It is believed that it is going to be a multi-starrer film and Hirani has already signed Kay Kay Menon for one of the lead roles.

Meanwhile, his 3 IDIOTS is based on Chetan Bhagat's popular book '3 Mistakes of My life'. It stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Sharman Joshi in lead roles.
