Abhi Ash’s wild adventure during Ravana shoot

January 5th, 2009

Abhishek and Aishwarya are currently shooting in the jungles of Kerela for Mani Ratnam’s Ravana. But if that makes you think that the lovey-dovey couple is having an adventurous time, you might be wrong. Shooting in the jungle is becoming tough for the couple. It is believed that they are having tough time on the sets of Ravana.

According to a unit hand, Ash was bitten by a leech on the very first day of her shoot. The jungle is full of leeches, snakes and other wild animals. However, director Mani Ratnam has hired local snake catchers to deal with this problem.

But being so professional both Abhishek and Aishwarya have decided to concentrate on their work no matter what they have to go through. Though Mani Ratnam has kept his project Ravana under wraps and has given instructions to his actors to not discuss about the film, their characters and their looks; we are sure Abhishek and Aishwarya will have more adventure tales to tell us once their shoot for Ravana is complete.

We have the indomitable Mahesh Manjrekar essaying the negative lead in the 1st series followed by Jimmy Shergill in the next. In fact we have a solid line up of negative characters to give the required impetus to our storylines.”

Waiting for yet another Shahrukh flick? There is good news - you would not have to wait much to see The King Khan, as his latest flick - ‘Billu Barber’ is expected to hit the theaters in the first quarter of 2009. A remake of the Malayalam film ‘Kadha Parayumbol’, this comic movie has been produced by SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment. It stars Shah Rukh Khan, Irrfan Khan, Lara Dutta, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani as its main characters. The news is abuzz that Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone will also be seen in the movie, in guest appearances.

While the lyrics for ‘Billoo Barber’ have been written by Gulzar, Pritam is the music director for this humorous movie. It is for the first time that Shahrukh and Irrfan will be sharing screen space. With the likes of Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani in the movie, rest assured that you are going to have a fine taste of comedy. The film is a tale of two friends, a modern adaptation of the platonic relationship shared by Krishna and Sudama. Priyadarshan is expecting to strike diamond with this movie, as it would mark his 75th film as a director.

In the movie, Irrfan Khan plays the title role of Billu Barber (present-day Sudama); Shahrukh will be seen as Sahil Khan (present-day Krishna). The movie revolves around the life of Billu Barber, his wife (Lara Dutta) and their two kids. Billu is a village barber experiencing a slow down in his business, primarily because he fails to adapt to the changing fashion trends. It is during this time that a film unit comes to his village, with superstar Sahil Khan as the hero. Billu tells everyone in the village that Sahil is his old friend. Instantly, the villagers take a keen liking to Billu.

All the villagers want to meet the Sahil Khan and believe Billu to be the perfect person, who can help arrange a rendezvous with him. Now, Billu tries to meet the actor, but is unsuccessful in the attempt. This makes everyone suspicious about his claim. Not only the villagers, but even his family members believe that he was lying about his friendship with Sahil. What will Billu do now? Will he be able to meet his friend? Will Sahil recognize Billu? Will Billu’s family members and villagers believe him again? The answers are for the viewers to unveil as the movie hits the theaters in 2009.

January 6th, 2009

Ajmal Amin Kasab might be interested in meeting him but megastar Amitabh Bachchan has clearly said that he found the idea of meeting the lone terrorist caught alive in the Mumbai terror attack – ‘repulsive’.

He’s said, “I read news reports that during investigation he expressed a desire to meet me and watch my films. I wrote about it on my blog and sought views from fellow bloggers. Fifty per cent respondents felt that I should meet him while the remaining were against such an idea.”

He’s also explained why he felt so at the release of “Bachchanalia: The films and memorabilia of Amitabh Bachchan, “Considering the ruthlessness and mercilessness of the carnage there is repulsion.”

Well, young Kasab might be trying to gain the sympathy of all and sundry by flaunting the sad situations in his growing up years. But it’ll be a while before people like Big B relent and get ready to forgive him for such a horrible carnage.

Salsa time for Hrithik Roshan

January 6th, 2009

Hrithik Roshan plays a Salsa dance instructor based in Las Vegas in his upcoming movie ‘Kites’.

Apparently his dad, producer Rakesh Roshan wants to ensure that his son, who is already considered one of the best dancers in Bollywood, surpasses all his previous performances.

Like every other movie of his, Hrithik has decided to set his best foot forward, and is working extremely hard once again, this time on his new moves. He’s been keeping a low profile and is not really meeting people.

A US-based choreographer Flexy Stu is choreographing a dance sequence in the film.

The song is being picturised on Hrithik and Kangna Ranaaut. Interestingly during this crucial song Kangna realizes her love for the dance instructor. The film has South American beauty Barbara Mori as the female lead and she’s expected in India soon to shoot her part.

So there’ll be loads of hot salsa sizzle in this flick

Deepika Padukone is a money minded girl!

January 6th, 2009

Bollywood stars have always done cameos in films for the sake of friendship. From Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya, Shahrukh Khan, to Kareena, Sanjay Dutt, all have done it at some point or the other.

But OSO girl Deepika Padukone who celebrates her birthday today is still not ready to become like one of them. Even though Shah Rukh Khan gave her the first break, the actress can’t afford to be charitable with him. She readily accepted the cheque which SRK paid her for an item number in ‘Billo Barber’.

Billu Barber is SRK’s home production directed by Priyadarshan, starring Irrfan Khan, Lara Dutta and Shahrukh Khan.

On the other hand Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra returned the cheque of 40 lakh which Shahrukh offered them for appearances in the movie.

Bebo and Priyanka returned it by saying that they have done it for Shahrukh as he is their close friend and they share a good personal and professional relationship.

On the other hand Deepika deposited hers in her bank.

A source close to Deepika defends her, “Kareena and Priyanka can afford to forego their payment as they are established actresses; Deepika is starting out. She wouldn’t hear about being paid for her debut film as she felt obliged to Farah Khan and SRK for her break.”

Well, be it love or work, Deepika always has business on her mind.
