Nayantara out of trouble

February 7th, 2009

Nayantara is now in the safe zone as the Tamil Film Producers Council and the South India Film Actors Association has issued the green card today on 7th February. She was earlier condemned with a red card by the associations for not returning the advance amount paid to her for 'Paiya'.

Following several controversies, the actress finally returned the amount today to one of the director of Thriupati Bros Film Media Ltd, Subash Chandrabose. After a joint meet, the issue was settled in am amicable manner. The associations held a brief talk and issued a green card for Nayantara withdrawing the ban, letting her act in Tamil movies once again.

For now, Nayantara is completely out of trouble. Rather than going head over heels, it will be advisable if the actress concentrates more on her job than the remunerations.

It's grave injustice: Nayantara

February 6th, 2009

'Nayantara, who was issued a red card by the Tamil Film Producers Council and the South India Film Actors Association on Wednesday, has reportedly said she has been targeted and that grave injustice has been committed against her.

Nayantara was issued a ban at a joint meeting of the two bodies following a complaint lodged by Subash Chandra Bose, the producer of 'Paiya'. The extreme step was taken as Nayantara refused to return the advance amount she had received for 'Paiya'.

On the ban, she reportedly said, 'this is injustice and I never told Lingusamy that I am opting out of the film. I had received an amount of Rs 20 lakhs from him as advance for 'Paiya' and gave dates from September 2008'.

'This decision was taken without consulting me' Nayantara declared.

The dusky actress who is currently shooting for a Telugu film said, 'I asked Nadigar Sangam for help in order to sort out this matter and now they too have turned against me'.

Interestingly, the ban may not have any impact on Nayantara (at least for the time being) because she has reportedly committed movies in other languages and is expected to be busy with them till the end of this year.

However, the Producers Council has said in its statement that it would request the producers' associations in other languages to cooperate with them and not sign Nayantara for any further films.

I had to waste three months of my time waiting for 'Paiya' to begin. Unfortunately, it was postponed. Will they compensate my loss?' she asked.

February 5th, 2009

Nayantara has found herself in a spot of bother as the Tamil Film Producers Council and the South India Film Actors Association on Wednesday issued on her a red card meaning she can't be part of any projects in Tamil unless further announcement from the council.

The decision was arrived at a joint meeting of the two bodies. The action has been taken against the actress following a complaint lodged by Subash Chandra Bose, the producer of Paiyya, a film being directed by Lingusamy. Nayantara was supposed to play the female lead in the film opposite 'Paruthiveeran' Karthi.

The very news of Nayantara being booked for the film at a whopping remuneration of Rs one crore created flutter in Kollywood. However, the excitement did not last long as the producers citing global economic meltdown urged her to waive off a part of her salary.

However, it resulted in allegations and counter allegations. Eventually, Nayantara was shown the exit door from the project and she was replaced by Tamannah. Shooting for the movie began recently at Bangalore.

Meanwhile the issue took a turn as the producer formally lodged a complaint with Producers Council alleging that the actress had not returned the advance paid to her.

A statement issued by the Producers Council after the joint meeting said the actress did not pay any heed to the requests that the advance be repaid. Hence, the council had issued a directive to its members not to cast Nayantara in their films with immediate effect.

The council also said it would hold discussions with the producers councils of other languages not to rope in Nayantara for their projects.

Nayantara does it yet again

February 5th, 2009

Surprising film goers, the coveted naïve girl of ‘Thulasi’ later became a sexy vixen by donning glamorous roles clad in revealing outfits. A milestone for Nayantara is the Tamil film ‘Billa’ starring Ajith in which she appeared in a bikini. For the Telugu audience, she will be reiterating her bikini act.

Nayantara is the female lead in the film directed by VV Vinayak starring NTR. Produced by Vamsi Mohan on a high budget, the film is a trademark NTR entertainer filled with action, drama and emotions. She has consented to be clad in the costume which costs her a lot.

For being in such revealing outfits, one need a taut structure and Nayanthara has been going on a crash diet filled with only protein food stuff. The actress has reportedly swooned in the sets of this film due to low blood pressure. But, the actress denies it saying that it’s only a rumor and she is in good health condition. This is not the first time she has fainted in the sets for she was admitted for a check up after one such incident earlier for the same reason.

Is it worthy to undergo such hardships for glamour, only Nayanthara could answer this question.

Nayantara evades troubled waters

February 2nd, 2009

Nayantara is a big name in both Telugu and Tamil film industries. She made it to the top in a short span of time and her bikini act in Billa catapulted her to the top. Though there is a good demand in Telugu films, Nayantara has thrown her weight towards Tamil films for the past some time. She had become familiar with the Telugu audiences with her films like Chandramukhi, Ghajini, Lakshmi, Boss, Yogi, Dubai Sreenu and Tulasi. She became one of the top heroines in Telugu in no time. She soon earned the name for having glamour besides good acting talents.

Nayantara cashed in on the demand and craze for her and hiked her remuneration to one crore. But unfortunately for Nayantara her subsequent films bombed at the box office. As such her demand has came down. The producers and directors were also miffed with the rate quoted by her and she now does not have too many films in hand. Nayan is now seriously considering to bring down her remuneration.

After having acted opposite Venkatesh in Tulasi in 2007, she came before the Telugu audiences with Salute last year. After a long gap, she has signed a film opposite NT Ramarao, for a film to be directed by VV Vinayak. Though Ileana was considered for the role in the beginning, she could not adjust the call sheets as she had already committed four other films. This has made the producer to knock at Nayantara's door. There are high expectations regarding this film which is to be produced by Vallabhaneni Vamsimohan.

Nayantara out of ‘Aadhavan’

January 29th, 2009

Nayantara finds herself out of an Udhayanidhi film again. This time, for reasons best known to her and the producer, she is out of the Suriya starrer, ‘Aadhavan’, to be directed by K.S.Ravi Kumar.

The sultry siren was the first choice for the female lead in ‘Kuruvi’, produced by Udhayanidhi’s Red Giant Movies. She was even paid a sum as advance, sources say. But, things changed midway and Trisha bagged the role. The incident is, reportedly, the reason for the hostility between the two.

Udhayanidhi, however, had wanted to utilize the advance paid to Nayantara by casting her in his next film. But he couldn’t do so as he had been badly hurt financially by the bad showing of ‘Kuruvi’. It was then that he planned a film with Suriya.

For Vijay fans only

January 17th, 2009

Alternating between fights and dance numbers, is weaved in a story of a son’s vendetta, against the men who had killed his father, an army major, and falsely branded him a traitor.

A remake of the Hindi film Soldier, Prabhudeva while almost faithfully following the major incidents of the earlier version, has made slight changes, and tailored it to suit Vijay’s image. So, Vijay gets to do all that he had done in his earlier films.

Including those cute little comic expressions and antics, that should go well with his fans. The songs are peppy and catchy in their picturisation. It has a sleeker, glossier style than the earlier version, with Ravi Varman’s camera contributing to the stylised look.

Vijay’s is a dual role. That of Pugazh, the youth who plans an elaborate trap to get at his father’s killers. And of pugazh’s father Major Saravanan, who had twenty years earlier been killed by his colleagues when he had caught them smuggling out army weapons. The difference between the duo is probably the length of their moustache.

Anyway, it being a Vijay-flick, it’s unreasonable to expect more variations! As for Nayantara, who plays his lady love, oblivious of his real motive in wooing her, consistency seems to be her hallmark. For, the actress sports the same look, that she had done in her recent films.

Playing the baddies, JD, Shaan, and Raku, are Prakashraj, Adithya and Devaraj respectively. There is a bit of a play on a disc that could have incriminated JD. And which Pugazh uses to create misunderstanding among them. There is just that much that a comic actor can do to raise laughs. Poor Vadivelu goes around for the most part in a weird hair-do, being mistaken for an ape, and looking quite lost, as he tries desperately to raise some laughs.

Villu is a typical Vijay-flick, and strictly for his fans.
