AR Rahman Wins Best Composer for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’

AR Rahman won the Best Music Composer award for the Hollywood movie Slumdog Millionaire at the 14th annual Critics” Choice awards in America. Slumdog Millionaire won five top prizes including Best Picture of 2008.

Slumdog Millionaire is a Hollywood movie about a Mumbai orphan on Who Wants to be a Millionaire has won 5 US Critics choice Awards at the 14th annual Critics Choice awards in America.

The event was held at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles on Thursday, January 8 by the Broadcast Film Critics Association,

Dia Mirza fills the void in her life without Movies

Dia Mirza loves to be in her own world. If you may be wondering why is she seen in a very few movies nowadays then according to the pretty actress, her hobbies and interests take most of her time which is why she is not signing more movies. She tells us, “I do an average of 4 to 5 films a year. I think it is important to do different films instead of signing a lot of them just for the sake of it.”

“Otherwise I am happy doing pottery painting. Apart from painting Dia enjoys horse riding. She has recently joined the Amateur Riding Club (AMC) at Mahalaxmi race course. “Horse ridding has been a childhood hobby. I didn’t know there are riding classes in Mumbai until Lara joined it. Amateur Riding Club is a huge place. I never knew that such a large space existed in the heart of the city. People come to jog and ride.”

Not just horse riding; this beautiful actress enjoys painting and writing poetry as well. “I’ve written around 50 poems and my friends compliment me on it. In fact my mother is after me to have them published. Maybe someday I will like Anne Franks Diary. I paint; I write poetry and love photography. I am a constant seeker and I keep learning different things to fill the void in my life.”

Dia loves to paint graphics and nature. She explains that her moods and thoughts reflect in her painting. “I love painting and that’s why when I am angry I paint, when I am sad I paint, when I am happy I paint. I paint in various moods and then gift them to people.” She concludes.

Shilpa Shukla romances with Abhay Deol

Well don’t be surprise because we talking about Abhay Deol’s onscreen romance. Shilpa Shukla aka Bindiya Nayak who played a negative character in Shimit Amin’s Chak De India will be seen romancing with Abhay Deol in her next film.

Shilpa has shot for a romantic film which is called as Junction. I am opposite Abhay Deol. Junction is a love story which is being directed by Atul Sabharwal who wrote scripts for My Wife’s Murder, Phir Milenge Darna Mana Hai. This is his debut film as a director.”

She informs that after playing a negative role like Bindiya Naik she is getting more offers to play same negative character. “There’s a lot of difference between what you want and what you get. Definitely there is a contradiction in offers I am getting after the release of Chak De. But the only role that I said yes to is role of Juncution because it’s something that I haven’t done.”

Bindiya is not in hurry rather she wants to go slow and select good roles. Shilpa is very grateful to the director Shimit who chose her to play Bindiya Naik. She says “Bindiya was a negative character and it has given me a name and fame suddenly. I don’t think any newcomer can get a film and character like that. My first film was Khamosh Paani which got 15 international awards. While Chak De was my second film and I worked really hard on the film. I am grateful to get a character like that.” She signs off.

Sourav Ganguly to judge SRK’s dancing reality show

Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chilies Entertainment is presently producing a dance reality show titled, Knights & Angels to hunt for cheerleaders for his IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders. The show is slated to go on air on NDTV Imagine later in a few months time.

Our source reveals, “Ex-Indian cricket team captain and captain of SRK’s KKR, Saurabh Ganguly is going to be the main judge on the show. The winner of Knights & Angels will get a chance to be a part of the cheer leading team for Knight Riders. It is learnt that ace choreographer Shaimak Davar is slated to train the girls. Talks are also on with a top Bollywood starlet to host the show and the papers are expected to be signed soon. If one has been the latest promo unveiled by NDTV Imagine, promoting its new lineup, the King Khan can be seen talking about the new reality show. It is learnt that the show will be spread over six episodes and is expected to being on 7 March and culminate on 4 April.

Red Chilies Entertainment is also launching a soap called Ghar Ki Baat Hai on NDTV Imagine. It stars Sumit Raghvan and Ali Asgar amongst others.
