‘Jugaad’ doesn’t fly for Pakistani singer Adeel

January 12th, 2009

It seems that no amount of ‘Jugaad’ can really help Adeel, a singer from Pakistani, who finds himself completely cornered out in Bollywood. One of the songs that he sung for the film Jugaad has been completely scrapped from and won’t find any place in either the promotional campaign or the final cut. This comes in the wake of 26/11 terror attack in which Pakistan has been accused of being involved. The current tension between the two countries hasn’t even spared the artists from across the boundaries as a result of which an obviously bitter and upset Adeel finds himself in a tight spot.

“I had worked extra hard on the song, ‘Kise Awaz Dun’ as well as it’s promotional video for Jugaad. After the terror attack, I could see this coming but still when I was informed about the altogether scrapping of the song, I indeed felt quite bad”, says Adeel who wasn’t even invited for the music launch of Jugaad that was held on 2nd January.

Producer Sandiip Kapur doesn’t regret scrapping the song and the music video even after investing quite a lot on it’s recording and shoot, “Keeping in mind the sentiments of people and the general mood in the country, we decided to scrap the music video and not to give any extra attention to the song ‘Kise Awaz Dun’. We had signed Adeel about an year back because he is very handsome and it looked like a very good marketing activity for the film. However, Jugaad would have to do without him now.”

Buzz has it that even though Adeel repeatedly tried calling Sandiip Kapur, the producer refused to invite the singer to Mumbai for the music launch. Some other Pakistani artists who have faced the axe after the terror attack are singer Ghulam Ali and comedians Shakeel Siddiqui and Kashif.

JUGAAD is based on the sealing drive by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi that had happened a few months back. Shot at various locations in Delhi and Gurgaon, the film is the real life story of its producer Sandiip Kapur. Starring Manoj Bajpai, Hrishita Bhatt, Vijay Raz, Sanjay Misra and debutant Nitin Arora, Jugaad is the voice of struggle of a successful CEO who wants to survive and restart his life from a scratch. None of his ‘Jugaad’ and connections work in his favor to save him from complete devastation.

A film which is a combination of loss, pain and comical satire, Jugaad is directed by Aanand Kumar (DELHI HEIGHTS) with music by Sachin Gupta, screenplay & dialogues by Bunty Rathore & Priyaank Dube and cinematography by Prem Anand. It’s produced under the banner of Promodome Films.
