It is learnt from reliable sources that Shimit Amin's next will bring together the younger generation's latest heart throbs Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan.

The film will be Shimit's next with Yash Raj Films after his immensely successful and acclaimed Chak De India.

For quiet a long time both Imran and Ranbir wanted to be cast together and had been dropping such hints in their various interviews to the media.

They also got on well with each other and had been searching for scripts and directors who would take them on both.

It is learnt that since the past few months the duo had been meeting up big Bollywood filmmakers such as Subhash Ghai, Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt, Vipul Shah as well as their own respective directors that they have worked with for doing a film starring them together but they were not meeting with a favourable response, perhaps because of the on going recession. But finally Yash Raj has managed to get them together.

AAmir Khan Next Directional Venture to be a movie based on bhopal farmers

February 6th, 2009

Aamir Khan has got fascinated with a new story and is funding a film based on it.

For the second time the actor is financing an issue based film.

The movie is to showcase the plight of the farmers in Bhopal.

We know that Aamir only gives the green signal when he is fully convinced about the quality of a certain project offered to him.

Considering the film's storyline it is for sure that it is the actor's genuine concern for the farmers that made up his mind to produce it.

Aamir's experiences after the release of 'Taare Zameen Per' also might have influenced his decision.

The way Aamir's directorial debut has brought about a change in the common man's perspective on children's education process is highly commendable.

After 'TZP' hit the screens, the actor was very much appreciated for utilizing the power of films to bring into focus the problem of learning disability.

So now may be Aamir thinks that he can put the spotlight on a grave problem that is eating up poor farmers lives in Bhopal.

Anusha Rizvi, a former journalist having first hand knowledge about the issues faced by the farmers in Bhopal is directing the film.

Raghubir Yadav is giving life to the lead character.

Salman Khan: The Forgotten Khan

February 6th, 2009

There once was a time when Salman Khan was the top actor in Bollywood. His dance moves, handsome good looks and acting skills sent girls all over the world into a frenzy. In fact, he was once even voted the seventh most handsome man in the world! But alas, times have drastically changed! His boy next door looks have faded into baggy eyes and artificial hair that is painfully visible when the camera pans close up. Okay, so that shouldn’t keep him up at night because his peers – Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan have both aged as well. Hey, they’re in their forties! It’s only natural. At least they’re not out getting Botox and trying to look like they’re 20 years old again. The main issue here is that Salman’s career has recently taken a nose dive.

All four of Salman’s releases in 2008– ‘God Tussi Great Ho,’ ‘Hello,’ ‘Heros,’ and the over hyped ‘Yuvvraaj,’ tanked at the box office. Not even the help of Bollywood beauty and his real life girlfriend Katrina Kaif could save ‘Yuvvraaj’! Meanwhile, Aamir Khan’s one and only release of the year ‘Ghajini’ shattered box office records and his eight pack abs drove audiences wild across the nation. Plus, he has proved to be a stupendous producer, first with ‘Taare Zameen Par’ and then ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na.’ Shahrukh’s lone release of the year, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,’ did very well at the box office and had people falling for the sweet simple character. His home production, ‘Billu Barber’ is also expected to at least make a decent amount of moolah. Aamir and Shahrukh’s status as top level actors and moneymakers are definitely a stark contrast to Salman’s.

It doesn’t seem like things are going to get any better for Salman anytime soon, as the teasers for his film, ‘Veer,’ aren’t sparking any interest from fans and the media alike. So we want to ask you: what can Salman do to salvage his career? Drop us a comment with your thoughts!

The second Inning

February 6th, 2009

A critic’s review is not the final verdict on a film, says Hurman S. Baweja. Victory has good chances of picking up by its word-by-mouth publicity.

What is your response to the criticism that Victory has received by film critics?
I am waiting and watching. I am sure that the film will catch up, because opposed to the critics the word-by- mouth publicity of Victory has been quite good. A trade analyst told me that even films like Jannat and Taare Zameen Par took time to catch up with the audience.

Is it reassuring, that your performance in Victory was appreciated?
I have read about 48 e-mails written by critics from all over the world. There have been remarks like ‘Hurman is above the film’, ‘A first- class actor in a second-class film’, ‘An actor like Hurman must rethink his scripts’ and ‘Hurman is a bankable actor’. Generally every person is panned if a film does not get favourable reviews, but, yes, it is reassuring that my performance has been appreciated.

Critics felt that there was less of human drama and more of cricket in the film. Would you agree with that?
No! There was barely 10 minutes of cricket before the interval and then there was some in the climax sequence in the second half. I feel there's a lot of drama in the film. In fact, people have been saying that being a sports-based film, there is not enough cricket.

After two films, where do you find yourself in the industry?
I am said to be a dependable actor in the brief time that I have been here. I hope to continue for a long time.

Are you nervous about your next release?
My next, Anees Bazmee’s It’s My Life is a romantic film which also focusses on Indian values and how parents' possessiveness can affect their children's lives. I am a positive person and have high expectations of the film.

Do you think the news of your break-up with Priyanka Chopra will affect What’s Your Rashee? Ashutosh Gowariker’s romantic comedy in which both of you star together?
Last when we heard of a couple breaking up, their film did well! That's on a lighter note. But my personal opinion is that the relationship between the leading pair of a film does not affect it in any way. A film runs purely on merit.

What is the status of your relationship with Priyanka Chopra?
We were good friends, and still are.

Randeep Hooda’s favorites are Bengali actress

Randeep Hooda who gave a stupendous performance in his debut movie, Rang Rasiya and now his latest flick, ‘Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye’ is all set to release this Friday, dated 6th February, 2009.

During some of the promotions for the film, we caught Randeep wearing red shoes. Later we again saw him sporting the same red shoes in many events. Be it black or blue shirt or jeans he is wearing, he mostly wears his red shoes in all the events.

Looks like red has been the favorite color of Randeep off recently (but only for footwear). Randeep is also working in a number of films now. It also seems like Randeep has one more favorite, Bengali actress along with the color ‘red’. It should be noted that all his current heroines are Bengali. Nandana Sen (’Rang Rasiya’/ ‘Colours of Passion’), Rituparna Sengupta and Riya Sen (’Love Khichdi’), Shahana Goswami (’Ru-Ba-Ru’), Raima Sen (’Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye’) and Sushmita Sen (’Karma Confessions and Holi’).
